Belarus, Russia kicks off joint paratrooper drills

Minsk, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Belarus and Russia started joint paratrooper drills on Sunday, the Belarusian defense ministry said.

More than 900 soldiers from Belarus and Russia are taking part in the joint paratrooper drills started in western Belarus, as well as about 250 units of military and special equipment and more than 10 units of military transport aviation.

The active phase of the drills will take place from Oct. 21 to 25, during which soldiers from the two states will practice forcing a water barrier, landing personnel and equipment, and offensive and defense combat shooting during daytime and night.
