BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro is scheduled to pay his first state visit to China from Thursday to Saturday.
Bolsonaro was born in 1955 in Sao Paulo state of Brazil. He graduated from the Brazilian Black Needles Military Academy in 1977.
In 1988, he was elected to the city council of Rio de Janeiro, and he served as a member of the lower house of the federal parliament, the National Congress of Brazil, from 1991 to 2018.
In October 2018, Bolsonaro was elected president of Brazil. He took office on Jan. 1, 2019 for a term through the end of 2022.
Bolsonaro is married, having four sons and a daughter.
