Logistics forum discusses transforming Oman into global hub

MUSCAT, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Oman Logistics Center held on Wednesday a logistics forum titled "Trade First" with a wide participation from private and government sectors.

The event, which came as part of the implementation of the Oman Logistics Strategy 2040 (SOLS), brought together representatives to share information and experiences on new instruments on trade facilitation to make international trade and logistics faster and cheaper for practitioners.

Legitimate trade will be allowed to flow with minimal regulatory interference as well as new services for greater visibility and management of trade flows.

Directorate general of customs announced relaxation of the requirement of presenting original trade documents at submission of customs declaration.

Directorate of Customs and other government control agencies have already applyed risk management in their controls. Risks are controlled through well targeted profiles which ensure the vital requirement of safety.

Another regulatory improvement will take effect in January 2020 when Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Department of Standards and Metrology will start to apply a more streamlined testing standard for cosmetic and personal care products.

Sohar Port and Free zone have recently launched Sohar Navigate, a unique online route planner, which provides information on available connections to hinterland destinations.
