MUSCAT, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The meeting of the Board of Directors of the GCC countries and Yemen Regional Anti-Doping Organization kicked off in Oman's capital Muscat on Wednesday, said a statement by the Oman Olympic Committee.
The two-day meeting is hosted by the Omani anti-doping committee in cooperation with the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The meeting discussed the future of the anti-doping program in the region, and the revision of the anti-doping draft law which is expected to be adopted in 2021.
The event also tackled operational strategy for 2020 in the GCC countries and Yemen and developments of the tasks carried out by the national anti-doping committees.
"The meeting reflects the keenness of the Oman Olympic Committee on supporting international and regional efforts in the fight against doping and protecting sports, athletes and the integrity of sports competitions," said Khalid bin Hamad Al Busaidi, chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee, in his opening speech at the meeting.
