BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- The third Beijing Ethnolographic Film Festival will open in Beijing on Friday, showing 55 documentaries.
The four-day event, co-sponsored by the Chinese National Museum of Ethnology and the Beijing Film Academy, includes four screening units to give a full picture of the lives of Chinese ethnic minorities and villagers.
The National Library of China initiated the biennial festival in 2015, aiming at an extensive collection of films featuring China's different ethnic groups.
The works to be displayed this year, selected from 252 candidate films, will be screened at the National Library of China as well as Peking University, Tsinghua University and other universities in Beijing.
Specialists and renowned directors will be invited to review the films and five awards will be granted to eight works to promote the creation of Chinese ethnographic documentaries.
