BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- China will implement 15 sets of standardized codes for the country's healthcare security system by 2020, said the National Healthcare Security Administration.
According to a statement from the administration, the codes cover 15 areas, including disease diagnosis, operations, medicines, medical consumables, drug stores and medical institutes, among others.
"The standardized codes are a universal language for medical data collecting across the country," said Shi Zihai, the deputy director of the administration.
They are designed to build a national database to better include, share and analyze medical information in China, which is very important for policymaking and the management of the healthcare security system, said Shi. Enditem
