JAKARTA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Divers grouped in 17 teams from Indonesia and abroad will compete in an international freediving competition off western Indonesia next month, an official said on Friday.
A total of 40 divers will take part in the 2019 Sabang International Freediving Competition which is slated to be held from November 2 to 8 off Balohan beach of Sabang Island in Indonesia's Aceh province, the head of provincial tourism and culture department Jamaluddin disclosed.
The province is situated in northern tip of the country's main Sumatra Island.
The competition will stage three events, namely constant weight, free immersion and weight no fins, said Rahmadhani, head of marketing section of the tourism and culture department.
"Never doubt the beauty of underwater scenery of Sabang Sea, Aceh. Sabang is equipped with the world's best freediving spot. The spot has been long sought by foreign divers," the official said.
