BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- A project has been launched at the Beijing Zoo to provide Mixed Reality (MR) experience since June 1 next year, the China Tourism News reported Monday.
MR is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce experiences where digital and physical objects co-exist and interact in real-time.
Jointly developed by the Beijing Zoo and the China Animation Comic Game Group, the project aims to explore the potential in the high-quality intellectual property of the zoo with modern technologies including holographic imaging, motion capture and MR.
The project also plans to design unique animal cartoons for extinct animals and those that appeared in ancient Chinese legends.
Founded in 1906, the Beijing Zoo will celebrate its 114th anniversary next year.
