NANJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province has more than 10 million electronic toll collection (ETC) users, ranking only second to Guangdong in the country, the provincial department of transportation said Tuesday.
Removal of toll stations along the provincial boundaries and ETC issuance have made progress in Jiangsu due to construction work of ETC tollgates and lane modification.
ETC utilization at highway entrances in the provincial capital Nanjing is expected to reach 90 percent by year-end, which will greatly improve transport efficiency with nonstop tolling, the department said.
China has seen 70.59 million new ETC users since May 15, which brought the total number of ETC users across the country up to 151 million as of Oct. 23, according to data from the Ministry of Transport.
