ADDIS ABABA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- As the 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE) is only one week away, Xinhua reporters have visited one Ethiopian coffee factory and see how authentic quality coffee is produced, and why the Chinese market provides business for Ethiopia's coffee producers.
Kerchanshe Coffee is one of the largest producers and exporters of coffee in Ethiopia. Its factory is located the outskirts of Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa. During Xinhua's tour to the company, workers at the factory are seen busy with their various jobs, and bags of different sizes of both processed and unprocessed coffee beans and machines are seen in the factory.
Asnake Kasa, quality and marketing director at Kerchanshe Coffee, said the ever increasing market of China for Ethiopian coffee is a big opportunity for Ethiopia as a country, and also for Kerchanshe Coffee in particular. The company is planning to showcase its products at the upcoming Chinese import expo.
Ethiopia is known for its organic coffee and it is the epicenter of origin and diversification of Arabica Coffee. As an important cash crop for foreign exchange earnings, Ethiopia hopes to promote its organic coffee and boost market access by participating in the 2nd CIIE to be held on Nov. 5-10 in Shanghai.
