GUANGZHOU, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Postgraduate Education was established Thursday in a bid to better integrate educational resources in China's Greater Bay Area and support the development of the region.

The alliance was co-founded by Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Macao University of Science and Technology in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.

Luo Jun, president of Sun Yat-sen University, said the alliance will advocate its member universities to form professional cooperative unions not only at academic frontiers, but for the national and regional socio-economic development.

High-level research projects, large teams and platforms will help blaze a new path for the coordinated and innovative development of science and education in the region, Luo added.

More universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao are expected to join in, according to the secretariat of the alliance, which is set up in the Graduate School at Sun Yat-sen University.
