CHINGOLA, Zambia, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- China Copper Mine (CCM) was on Friday commended for supplementing Zambian government's effort to improve health service delivery by donating 140 blankets to a health facility in Chingola town on the Copperbelt Province.
And CCM has pledged to support communities in town in which it conducts its operations for the last 10 years.
Zambia's Nchanga North Hospital superintendent John Phiri applauded CCM for the gesture to donate 140 blankets to the health institution which at times is faced with a shortage of linen.
"We are happy that China Copper Mine has come to our aid by donating the coverings, we at times are faced with shortage of blankets," he said.
He said when the Chinese firm handed over the blankets that there is need for other companies to come on board to supplement government's efforts to improve the health sector in the district and the country as a whole.
According to Phiri, the institution was a second level hospital which caters for patients from other districts in the province.
And CCM administrative officer Yu Qi said the mining enterprise will continue to support the health institution when resources are available.
"We have a scheme here at the hospital for our employees, so this is our hospital which requires support from us," he said.
Yu said the company will support the communities where it conducts its operations to actively put into practice its Corporate Social Responsibility.
"We are happy to be in existence in Zambia's mining industry for the last 10 years, we will continue to invest in the sector," he said.
On investment, Yu is optimistic that Zambia will continue to lure foreign investments as a result of its god policies.
