BRATISLAVA, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- In a battle of the top two teams of the men's Slovak Basketball League, second-ranked Zilina hosted the leaders from Bratislava on Saturday but failed to provide a significant challenge to the four-time champions and lost 74-97.

Zilina's undefeated streak on home court got snapped in the seventh round. Bratislava needed to boost the team's morale after losing to the Dutch team ZZ Leiden in the FIBA Europe Cup last Wednesday and succeeded in doing so.

After taking down Bratislava last week, Handlova felt like achieving another two-point victory. And the team from Slovakia's traditional mining town accomplished this task, defeating the injury-plagued Komarno 89-84.

Prievidza was not allowed to play its home game against the hopelessly last Spisska Nova Ves on home court as a punishment for the incident from the fourth round when one of the fans attacked the referee. The match thus had to be played in a different town (Levice).

Spisska Nova Ves was still looking for its first victory of the season and managed to keep pace with Prievidza for the first three periods but for the seventh time failed to bring home a victory, losing 96-77.

Also on Saturday, Svit beat Levice 92-76 at home.
