BRATISLAVA, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The fourteenth round of Slovakia's premier football league Fortuna Liga saw Bratislava strengthen its leading position and Nitra snap its negative series of five losses in a row.

Slovan Bratislava football club defeated Senica 2-0, winning their eleventh match out of fourteen in the current season, and is leading second-placed Zilina by five points now. Senica fell to tenth place in the rankings.

Nitra's Macedonian-born center-forward Milan Ristovski scored the only goal of the 1-0 match against Trnava, ending Nitra's losing streak and prolonging the visitors' negative series, stretching it to four defeats in a row. Nitra hired a new coach Gergely Geri and earned the first point in the league since September 14.

Trencin was waiting for a win since the beginning of September and finally achieved a victory on Sunday, surprisingly defeating second-placed Zilina 3-0 and is now back in the fight for the top half of the league rankings. Trencin decided the outcome in the second half, scoring two goals within 60 seconds. Zilina lost only their second match of the season.

Third-ranked Dunajska Streda's great four-game winning streak came to an end in the 0-0 home game against Sered.

Elsewhere, Ruzomberok scored twice on Pohronie's turf in the first half and managed to hold on to the lead until the end, triumphing 2-1 and moving up two spots in the rankings to fourth place. Pohronie's substitute Michal Klec was close to tying the game but he missed a penalty, although he scored a goal one minute later. His team lost the ninth game of the season and remains on the bottom of the league.

The newcomer of Fortuna Liga Michalovce was leading twice against Zlate Moravce but the visitors managed to tie the game both times thanks to the 21-year-old German center-forward Senad Jarovic, the clash resulting in a 2-2 draw.
