5.4-magnitude earthquake hits Iran's southern region

TEHRAN, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit Roydar region in Iran's southern Hormozgan province on Wednesday, according to Iran's Seismological Center.

The epicenter of earthquake, which took place at 11:10 local time (0740 GMT), was at the depth of 16 km, 27.226 degrees north latitude and 55.112 degrees east longitude.

According to the Red Crescent Society of Hormozgan province, there has been no immediate report of casualties or damage because of the earthquake.

Teams have been dispatched to the quake-hit region to assess the possible damage and help people in need, it said.
