BEIJING, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices closed mixed Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ending flat at 2,978.71 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.57 percent higher at 9,917.49 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 398.9 billion yuan (about 56.98 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 452.56 billion yuan in the previous trading day.
Most stocks rose, with gainers outnumbering losers by 887 to 485 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,377 to 641 in Shenzhen.
Companies in sectors of blockchain and pork production posted robust growth in share prices, with stocks of Beijing Advanced Digital Technology Co., Ltd. surging by the daily 10-percent limit to 21.89 yuan per share.
Defense and military industry companies and steel makers led the losses. Xi'an Triangle Defense Co., Ltd. saw its shares drop by 2.05 percent to 35.41 yuan per share.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.74 percent to close at 1,715.58 points Thursday.
