MUMBAI, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- India's leading global information technology, consulting and business process services company Wipro has announced a 5G adoption within Telecom Infra Project (TIP), which was set up to accelerate the pace of innovation in the telecom industry, a company statement said Wednesday.
Launched in 2016, TIP board members include members such as Vodafone, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom and BT, Facebook among other telecom operators, technology providers, developers, integrators, startups, and a range of other entities inside and outside the traditional telecom space with the objective of building a vibrant, collaborative telecom ecosystem.
As part of its strategic 5G initiative, Wipro is investing significantly in the creation of a TIP-based blueprint for a 5G MNO (mobile network operator) reference architecture and a next generation 5G operational model, the Wipro statement said.
"Working within TIP, we will be able to deliver the next generation wireless solutions that will have the potential to revolutionize the wireless industry," said Sanjay Bhartiya, Vice President, Industrial & Engineering Services, Wipro.
TIP's Radio Access Network (RAN) initiatives are accelerating the path to commercial deployments of simplified, flexible and efficient RAN technologies.
"I am excited that Wipro is taking an active role in the TIP community to promote collaboration around Open RAN technology and 5G adoption," said Attilio Zani, Executive Director, TIP.
