ACCRA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Ghana got its 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign off to a flying start following a 2-0 victory over South Africa Thursday night.

Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus scored in each half to give the Black Stars the deserved win in the game played at the China-built stadium in Cape Coast.

Partey, who plays for Athletico Madrid, gave Ghana the lead in the 35th minute after his low drive beat South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

Substitute Mohammed Kudus crowned his senior national team debut with a spectacular strike into the roof of the net, in the 80th minute, after running at the defense of the Bafana Bafana right into the box.

The Black Stars have not played any match since losing to Tunisia on penalties in their round of 16 ties at this year's AFCON in Egypt.

The win takes Ghana, four-time champions of Africa, on the same points with Sudan, who thrashed Sao Tome and Principe 4-0 in Group C's opening game. Enditem
