BEIRUT, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Italian Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini said on Friday that his country will boost bilateral ties with Lebanon on all levels, a statement by Lebanese president's office reported.
"Lebanon plays a very important role in the region. We want to boost our ties with your country in all fields and we are keen on maintaining Lebanon's stability and independence," Guerini told Lebanese President Michel Aoun during their meeting in the capital Beirut.
Guerini also said Italy will support Lebanon in overcoming its current crisis, and promised to help Lebanon in overcoming the repercussions of the presence of a big number of Syrian refugees in the country.
Guerini arrived in Lebanon on Thursday to meet with local officials.
