DUBLIN, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Ireland's goods exports to China soared by nearly 140 percent in September compared with the same month last year, according to statistics released here on Friday.
The data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) of Ireland showed that the Irish goods exported to China in the month were valued at 838 million euros (about 924 million U.S. dollars), up sharply by 138.74 percent over the September 2018 figure of 351 million euros.
During the January-to-September period of this year, Ireland exported a total of 6.51 billion euros worth of goods to China, up by 78.11 percent compared with the corresponding period last year.
In September, the value of the goods imported by Ireland from China was 472 million euros, up by 1.07 percent over a year ago.
In the first nine months of this year, Ireland imported a total of 3.83 billion euros worth of goods from China, up by a meager 0.2 percent year-on-year.
The goods trade surplus that Ireland enjoyed over China in the first nine months of this year was more than 2.6 billion euros, according to the CSO figures.
The CSO figures also showed that in the first nine months of this year China was the sixth largest export market for the Irish goods and the fifth largest source of the goods imported by Ireland. (1 euro=1.103 U.S. dollars)
