Russia sees more terrorist crimes in 2019

So far this year, 39 terrorist attacks have been foiled at the preparation stage in Russia.

MOSCOW, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The number of terrorist crimes in Russia rose by 3.1 percent year on year in January-September 2019 to 1,382, data from the Interior Ministry showed on Saturday.

However, the number of extremist crimes plummeted by 61 percent in the first nine months to 454, according to the figures.

Director of the Russian Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov said in October that 39 terrorist attacks had been foiled at the preparation stage in the country so far this year.

He said that 32 militants were killed, 679 detained and 22 persuaded to give up terrorism.
