HANOI, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- The biggest event of Vietnam's cinema industry, or the Vietnam Film Festival, will take place on Nov. 23-27 in the country's southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, its organizers said on Tuesday.

The event will honour the excellent works on the silver screen and pay respect to artists and filmmakers who have great devotion for the Vietnam's cinema industry during 2017-2019.

The festival will gather more than 1,000 cinema workers nationwide, who will join various activities in the opening, award ceremonies and workshops, and some 50 foreign filmmakers, producers and actors, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The highest prizes Golden Lotus will be awarded to best works competing at the festival including feature films, documentaries, scientific and animation movies.

Various sideline events such as free screenings, exhibitions and meetings between audiences and artists have been held in capital Hanoi and southern Ho Chi Minh City, said the organizers.
