Fujian thrash struggling Bayi 122-101 in CBA

FUZHOU, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Wang Zhelin contributed 23 points and 12 rebounds as Fujian Sturgeons won over Bayi Rockets 122-101 at home in the seventh round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Sunday, clinching the second victory of the season.

Chen Linjian hit all six 3-pointers in the final quarter to score 20 points for the hosts, while Ty Lawson came off the bench with a double-double of 15 points and 13 assists.

The visiting team had four players scoring double-digits in the match including 23 points and 10 rebounds from promising 22-year-old center Fu Hao and 19 from Lei Meng.

Lawson boosted the home side for a 12-0 run in the first quarter to take a 34-22 lead, before Fujian extended the advantage to 63-48 into the second half.

Bayi then geared up to play tough defense and cut the deficit to 82-74 in the third quarter. However, Fujian held out the challenges to seal the first home win in 122-101 thanks to Chen Linjian's shot beyond the arc at clutch time.

Fujian now sit 15th in the league table with two wins and five losses, while Bayi remains second from bottom with just one win.
