Experts brainstorm for Hainan's technological innovation, industrial development

HAIKOU, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 300 academics, experts and industry elites from 14 countries gathered in Haikou on Tuesday to contribute ideas for technological innovation and industrial development in south China's Hainan Province.

The two-day event focuses on talent introduction, technological innovation and industrial development in Hainan's seed breeding, deep ocean and aerospace industries.

At the opening ceremony, OneWeb, a London-based communication company signed a cooperation framework agreement with the Sanya municipal government, planning to set up a satellite ground station in Sanya, a resort city in Hainan, which would be the first ground station of the company in Asia.

The opening ceremony saw more international cooperation agreements reached, covering the establishment of contact centers in the United States, Canada and Australia to recruit high-level talent to Hainan and the conducting of joint research on seaweed with Thai, Philippine and Japanese experts, among other projects.
