World Children's Day - Slum orphanage in Kenya

The World Children's Day is a global day marked on November 20 annually for more action to be taken regarding children's welfare and rights. The following photos show children at a slum orphanage in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

NAIROBI, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Emmanuel New Hope Orphanage is located at the Soweto slum in Nairobi, capital of Kenya. According to its founder Banis Wanjiru, the orphanage currently has 43 children, and it has helped over 800 children since its establishment seven years ago.

Since 2017, contributors including locally-based Chinese enterprises and individuals have made donations to help the children overcome difficulties.

Year 2019 also marks 30 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
