JERUSALEM, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Israel's Sheba Medical Center (SMC) announced on Wednesday that it has become the first fully VR-based (virtual reality-based) hospital in the world.

According to the hospital's statement, this is realized by utilizing XRHealth VR technology platform throughout all departments in the hospital.

XRHealth, a leading Israeli-U.S. company in extended reality and therapeutic applications, has developed the VR platform for cognitive therapy, physical therapy, pain relief, behavioral therapy and many others.

The platform is particularly useful for medical professionals since it can analyze patient data in real time to track their recovery both on site and remotely.

"We are guided by a strategy called Innovation ARC that stands to accelerate, redesign, and collaborate with a focus on investing in digital health," SMC said.

"With XR Health, we will be able to provide improved training for our facility, along with better and more personalized care for our patients," said Amitai Ziv, director of SMC's rehabilitation hospital.
