SOFIA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Justice Nikolay Prodanov said here on Thursday that Bulgaria and China are enjoying enhanced economic, cultural and political relations.

"What is most important and pleases us all very much, is that practically the whole Bulgarian society is very positive about this deepening of relations between the two countries," Prodanov said.

The official's words came at the opening ceremony of a conference titled "70 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between the Republic of Bulgaria and the People's Republic of China".

Nearly 40 reports will be presented at the three-day event organized by the Institute for the State and the Law at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

"History of Bulgarian-Chinese Relations", "Bulgaria in the China-European Union Dialogue" and "To See the Real China from the Perspective of Improving Life of Chinese People" are themes of some of the reports listed in the agenda.

Yan Jianqun, charge d'affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria, said at the opening ceremony that China and Bulgaria are good friends and partners.

"We are delighted with the tremendous achievements and high level of bilateral relations over the past 70 years," he said.

"Relations and cooperation between China and Bulgaria have great potential and broad prospects in the future," Yan added.
