SANAA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 African migrants were killed in a shelling on a popular border market in Yemen's northern province of Saada, local medics said on Thursday.

The shelling, which occurred late Wednesday night, also wounded about 30 others, including migrants from Ethiopia and Somalia, two medics told Xinhua by phone on condition of anonymity.

The Al-Raqu market is located in Monabeh district north of the Houthi-controlled Saada province. It is a few miles away from battlefronts, near the border with Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi-led coalition forces have been battling the Iran-allied Houthi rebels in Yemen for over four years, in support for the Yemeni government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The African migrants have frequently fled their countries to Yemen, from which they would later infiltrate through the borders to enter the Arab Gulf states to seek jobs.
