TOKYO, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Al-Hilal beat Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds 3-0 on aggregate to lift the AFC Champions League trophy for the first time after a 2-0 away victory in Saitama on Sunday.
The Saudi Arabian club travelled to Japan with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg of the final on November 10 thanks to Andre Carrillo's goal.
After a goalless first half, Salem Al Dawsari opened the scoring for the visitors in the 74th minute from Sebastian Giovinco's pass. With Red Diamonds players pressing high up the pitch in a desperate attempt to reduce the deficit, French striker Bafetimbi Gomis sealed the 2-0 victory for Al-Hilal in stoppage time.
With two victories from both legs, Al-Hilal avenged their 2017 final defeat to Red Diamonds and secured their place at the Club World Cup in Qatar as Asian champions.
