BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) has cautioned the public of possible flooding especially at low lying areas, as well as the risk of landslide and rough waves over Brunei waters as the country enters the rainy season, the local daily Borneo Bulletin reported on Sunday.

In a press release, BDMD stated that the country is entering the northeast monsoon season which will bring more rainfall in December and January.

During the period of unsettled weather conditions, occasionally heavy showers or thundershowers are expected especially during the night and early morning.

Severe flooding may also occur during the event of heavy rain coinciding with high tide, and strong surges from the northeasterly wind may also result in the increase of wave height over Brunei waters to rough state, BDMD stated.

BDMD urged local fishermen and road users to keep themselves abreast of the latest weather forecast and advisory.
