JERUSALEM, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Israeli sports technology firm PlayerMaker announced Wednesday that Argentina's Olympic football team will be using its technology to help prepare and train for the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The company's boot-mounted sensor was worn for the first time at training sessions and matches of the Argentinian team at the United International Football Festival in Las Palmas, Spain, earlier this month.

The Israeli system collects data points through a hidden boot-mounted sensor containing an accelerometer and gyroscope - a device that helps determine orientation.

Guy Aharon, CEO at Playermaker, said: "The Olympics are the pinnacle of sporting prowess and it is a privilege to be part of the Argentinian team's training and continued development."

Luciano Nakis, Argentinian Football Federation's delegate to national teams, said: "We are very impressed with the data Playermaker's device offers us. The possibility of being able to analyze the performance of the players gives coaches an important tool."
