DOHA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met in Doha on Wednesday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss latest developments and means to boost bilateral relations.

According to the Qatari royal court, the emir and Abbas exchanged views on issues of mutual concern.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian news agency WAFA said President Abbas briefed the Qatari emir on Israeli violations against the Palestinian people.

Media reports quoted Palestinian ambassador to Qatar Mounir Ghannam as saying that Abbas' visit falls within continued consultations with the Arab brothers.

Other reports confirmed that the Palestinian National Authority has received a pledge from Doha of 25 million U.S. dollars to sustain the Palestinian election commission in case the Palestinian factions agreed on election.

Abbas arrived in the Qatari capital on Tuesday evening for a visit.
