SOFIA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The seventh edition of Rakia and Spirits Fest Sofia 2019 kicked off here on Friday with the participation of distilleries from Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Turkey, China, Brazil and other countries.

During the two-day event at the National Palace of Culture, for the modest fee of some 11 U.S. dollars per day, visitors can taste more than 400 kinds of rakia, a traditional fruit brandy made in the Balkans, as well as other spirits from the region and the world.

The connoisseurs enjoyed various kinds of rakia made of fruits such as grape, plum, apricot, pear, cherry, peach, apple, melon, blackberry and fig, along with hard alcohols from farther destinations.

Chinese liquor Moutai was presented for the second year in a row at the event.

Neli Dimitrova, store manager at the Moutai Centre in Sofia, told Xinhua that Moutai has been in Bulgaria since the beginning of 2018, and has recently become increasingly recognizable on the local market.

It turned out that young people up to the age of 30 were very open to new tastes, Dimitrova said.
