In Baghdad's traditional lute market, soft music and hammer sounds can always be heard. The market is specialized with manufacturing Iraqi hand-made lutes, or Oud in Arabic. The 1970s and 80s were the industry's golden era as musical activities flourished across Iraq. But since the U.S. invasion in 2003, the lute industry has been struggling with economic troubles.■
