Death toll of bus accident rises to 13 in Morocco

RABAT, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Five more people died in a bus overturn accident on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 13 in Morocco, local television said.

At least 39 were injured when the bus overturned near the town of Bab Marzouka, 300 km east of the capital Rabat, on the highway linking Taza and Fez cities.

The injured in the accident have been transported to a hospital in the city of Taza, the sources added.

Local authorities said an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the accident.

Deadly road accidents are common in Morocco, often caused by high speed, bad condition of roads and reckless driving.

A total of 1,357 people have been killed in road accidents in Morocco in the first four months of 2019, up 10 percent year on year, according to official statistics.
