Macao MICE business has more events, less participants in Q3

MACAO, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 341 meetings, conferences, exhibitions and incentives (MICE) were held in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in the third quarter of 2019, the SAR's statistic service said here on Tuesday.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of MICE events held in the third quarter of 2019 increased by 30 year-on-year, including 320 meetings and conferences, 17 exhibitions and four incentives.

The number of participants and attendees totalled 583,000, a drop of 16.3 percent year-on-year.

According to the information provided by the 17 exhibitions organizers, their revenue and expenditure amounted to 21.87 million patacas and 63.55 million patacas respectively.

The exhibitions in the third quarter attracted 1,582 exhibitors, with 46.1 percent of them coming from the local exhibitors and 21.7 percent of them from the Chinese mainland.

In the first three quarters this year, a total of 1,075 MICE events were held, an increase of 109 year-on-year. The total number of participants and attendees decreased by 8.3 percent to 1,268,000. (One U.S. dollar equals to 8.06 patacas)
