KHARTOUM, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan on Wednesday received a message from South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit about the arrangement for the upcoming round of peace talks between Khartoum and the armed groups.
The message was delivered to Al-Burhan by a delegation of South Sudan's mediation team which arrived in Khartoum on Tuesday to prepare for the new round of talks, slated for Dec. 10 in South Sudan's capital Juba.
According to a statement by the sovereign council, Al-Burhan reiterated the government's keenness to achieve stability for the Sudanese people, noting that the change should be accompanied by peace.
Tut Gatluak, South Sudan's presidential adviser on security affairs and head of the visiting mediation team, for his part, reiterated South Sudan's readiness to make the negotiations successful, noting that 2020 would be the year for peace in Sudan.
South Sudan has been mediating between the Sudanese government and the armed groups from Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions.
On Oct. 14, South Sudan hosted a round of peace talks between the Sudanese parties in its capital Juba.
