On Aug. 4, 2008, two terrorists drove a stolen tip lorry to hit a team of policemen during their regular morning exercise and threw explosives at them in Kashgar, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, killing 16 policemen and injuring 16 other. (Xinhua)

(191205) -- BEIJING, Dec. 5, 2019 (Xinhua) -- The approval of the so-called "Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2019" by the U.S. House of Representatives on Dec. 3 local time was a wanton smear and unreasonable criticism of the human rights situation, counter-terrorism and de-radicalization measures in Xinjiang. These measures in Xinjiang have been practiced in line with the spirit and requirements of the rule of law in China. They are China's important contribution to the international counter-terrorism cause, conforming with the United Nations' purposes and principles in battling terrorism and protecting basic human rights.
