Azerbaijan to hold snap parliamentary elections in February

BAKU, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Thursday signed an order on dissolving the country's parliament and holding early parliamentary elections on Feb. 9, 2020.

Earlier on Wednesday, the country's Constitutional Court ruled the parliament's appeal to the head of state to dissolve the 125-seat legislative body as legally valid.

The initiative was put forward by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, which enjoys parliamentary majority.
