Chinese shares close higher Friday

BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.43 percent, at 2,912.01 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.81 percent higher at 9,878.62 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 409.8 billion yuan (about 58.22 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 423.8 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Most stocks rose, with gainers outnumbering losers by 902 to 445 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,402 to 604 on the Shenzhen bourse.

Companies in the industries of electronic sports and wireless headset posted strong performance, with shares of Hubei Century Network Technology Inc. rising by the daily 10-percent limit to 15.51 yuan per share.

Bucking the upward trend, shares in the sectors of automobile, graphite and coal led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.99 percent to close at 1,726.80 points Friday.
