TIRANA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in Albania donated here on Friday relief supplies for the families affected by the strong earthquake in the capital city Tirana.

The donations, consisting of relief supplies such as mattresses, portable beds, blankets and pillows, were delivered to help the 150 affected families of Farka Administrative Unit, in the suburbs of Tirana.

The donations are offered by the diplomats of the embassy, Chinese Ambassador to Albania Zhou Ding said, adding that the Chinese government will donate its aid through the Red Cross Society of China.

Zhou emphasized that the Chinese embassy will work closely with Albania's institutions to assist in rebuilding the affected areas in the country.

Ardian Tufa, administrator of Farka Unit, informed the Chinese Ambassador of the situation in the unit and commended the help offered to the affected families.

According to the Chinese embassy, two Chinese companies have donated 2 million euros (around 2.2 million U.S. dollars) to help the country cope with the damages caused by the earthquake.

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Albania on Nov. 26, claiming 51 lives.
