3.2 million tourists visit Oman in 2018

MUSCAT, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Omani authorities said on Saturday that the number of tourists visiting Oman in 2018 grew two percent year on year to 3.2 million.

The number of tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries topped the list with 45.4 percent, followed by Asian visitors with 21.3 percent and European visitors with 19 percent, according to a bulletin issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.

Meanwhile, an official statement of the center said the value created by tourism amounted to 1.4 billion Omani riyals (3.64 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018, with foreign and domestic tourism accounting for 49.2 percent and 50.8 percent respectively.

The statement pointed out that nine hotel nights were spent per tourist in Oman in 2018.
