SARAJEVO, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Cristiano Ronaldo, the famous football player, is a fan of Bosnia-Herzegovina's traditional food burek, local media Liberation reported Tuesday.
More than a decade ago, Stanisic, a Sarajevo native, borrowed some money from his mother and sister to make his way to Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain and eventually Portugal. He now runs several restaurants and two hotels in Lisbon, where his specialty food has attracted celebrities, including Ronaldo, who befriended Stanisic.
Stanisic said Ronaldo's favorite food is traditional Bosnian cuisine, and whenever he brings his teammates to the restaurant, he always tells Stanisic, "dude, have something good to eat." Hearing this, Stanisic would serve the burek to Ronaldo and his teammates.
Burek is a pastry filled with meat, potatoes, spinach, and cheese. It originated in Turkey and later became popular in the Balkans, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Enditem
