Fujian upsets Beijing 111-107 in CBA

JINJIANG, China, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Ty Lawson contributed a double-double of 29 points and 13 assists as the Fujian Sturgeons beat the visiting Beijing Ducks 111-107 in the 16th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday.

Dante Cunningham, who has been listed in the Fujian squad to replace Amar'e Stoudemire on Wednesday, scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while CBA reigning MVP Wang Zhelin got 27 points.

The visitor had three players scored 20-plus points including 28 points from Jeremy Lin, 25 points and 12 rebounds from Ekpe Udoh and 21 from Zhai Xiaochuan.

The first half witnessed a seesaw battle between the two teams as the visitor led 30-28 in the opening quarter thanks to 10 points from Jeremy Lin, before Wang Zhelin made four baskets in the second quarter for Fujian to take a two-point advantage 57-55.

Fujian then extended the lead to 90-82 after Cunningham scored nine points in the third quarter. Despite Beijing gearing up to cut the deficit in the final quarter, the host held out the challenges to seal the second victory in the latest three games 111-107.

In upcoming action, Fujian will take on Shenzhen in an away game on Friday, while Beijing will visit Shanghai on Saturday.
