TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chief commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that the Iranian nation will not surrender under the U.S. pressures, Tehran Times daily reported on Friday.

"We tell you that if you do not abandon (your pressures), we will set fire onto your interests," IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami was quoted as saying.

He urged "the enemies to put an end to their anti-Iran plots." Otherwise, they will "face consequences ... and Iran will take revenge on any hostile act," he noted.

"The more the pressure, the stronger the Iranian people's determination to resist the enemy," he stressed.

U.S. President Donald Trump has adopted a maximum pressure campaign against Iran since he walked away from the Iranian 2015 landmark nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in May 2018.

Trump's administration's pressures include sanctions on Iran's economy, particularly its oil exports, and bans on top Iranian figures and organizations.

Trump pushes for renewed talks on Iran's nuclear deal and Tehran's ballistic missile program, which Tehran rejects.
