American Blunck, Briton Atkin win FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup titles

WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. skier Aaron Blunck and Zoe Atkin of Britain won their respective men's and women's titles of the FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup at Copper Mountain of the United States on Friday.

Blunck claimed the men's title with a total of 87 points while Atkin won the women's crown on 87.75.

China's Zhang Kexin, who won the season opener in Cardrona, New Zealand in September, finished fourth with 79.75 in the women's event with her teammate Li Fanghui coming seventh.

Brita Sigourney of the United States won the silver on 85 points in the women's event and Canadian skier Rachael Karker took the bronze on 81.75.

In the men's competition, Blunck's compatriot David Wise won the silver on 85.25 while Canada's Noah Bowman came third on 84.75.

The 2019-20 FIS Freeski Halfpipe World Cup consists of five events, with the third stop to be slated for December 18-20 in China's Chongli, the venue for the skiing events of the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games.
