LUSAKA, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's investment agency said Monday there was a need to embrace Chinese technology for the country to experience sustained economic growth.

Matongo Matamwandi, Director-General of the Zambia Development Agency, said Zambia needs to welcome the Chinese investors because of the immense benefits they come with.

In remarks delivered at a two-day Southern African Development Community Men's Entrepreneurship Conference, which began on Monday, the official said the Chinese investors should be embraced and encouraged to invest in various sectors because they will not only bring technological transfer but also skills to local people.

According to him, no country can develop without technology in the current world and that countries like Zambia need to learn from countries like China which have advanced technologically.

The Chinese, he said, also have abundant financial capital which Zambia requires to develop its economy.

Meanwhile, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma, said the government was keen to promote private sector investment into the country.

He said the government has since put in place various policies and incentives aimed at creating a conducive environment for the private sector to flourish.

Zambia, he said, was endowed with immense investment opportunities which need to be explored by both local and foreign investors.
