BANGKOK, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) on Wednesday said in a media conference that the Thai Industries Sentiment Index rose for the first time in six months in November thanks to accelerated production before the New Year holiday.

"We conducted a survey on 1,205 operators in Thailand, and the finding showed an index of 92.3, up from 91.2 in October," said FTI Chairman Supant Mongkolsuthree. "It was the first indication of improvement since June."

The FTI press release indicated that operators sped up their production to compensate for fewer working days in December. Meanwhile, placement order (PO) from overseas include fashion products, food, health and beauty care products.

However, Supant said that recovery was likely next year with automotive, food, furniture, petrochemical, cosmetic, cement, gem and jewelry industries.

Supant also warned on negative outlook for steel, chemical and leather industries.
