JAKARTA, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed after a truck crashed into a shop house in Indonesia's West Java province on Tuesday night, a police officer said on Wednesday.
The accident occurred when the truck fully loaded with sand was believed to fail to move upward the road in Cikahuripan village of Cianjur district due to a brake failure, spokesman for the district police Budi Setiayuda said.
The truck was reversing and hit the shop house, and consequently, the building was damaged and three owners of the shop house were killed in the scene, the spokesman disclosed.
"Suddenly the engine turned off and the vehicle reversed. It stopped when it crashed into the building," he said.
For investigation, police have detained the truck driver and one passenger, the spokesman was quoted by local media as saying.
