School-based shows go on tour in Beijing

BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- A tour of school-based shows presented by vocational art schools has kicked off in Beijing.

The event invited more than 130 students and faculty members from seven vocational art schools across the country to perform nine shows, China Culture Daily reported Friday.

Covering various genres including plays, Peking opera, musicals, dance and poem recitation, the shows were selected from 30 works submitted by 30 schools during a campaign initiated in June.

The shows will be staged in schools in Beijing, and visits to the Palace Museum and the National Museum of China will be organized for the participating students and faculty, according to the newspaper.
